Summers in Ohio: Why Ohio summers are so amazing!

Lets be honest, the concept of summer is awesome. No school, warm weather, vacations, fireworks, great summer beers, baseball, or and did I mention warn weather! For the most part, all states in the country are fortunate enough to experience these benefits. However, I truly believe, that summers in Ohio are the best in the U.S.

Point 1 – Activities

A wise man once said “so much extra space to do activities” and in Ohio, there are a plethora of activates to do in the summer.  If you’re a baseball fan, you are in luck. There is a team in every major city. From Reds and Indians to the Mudhens and Clippers, there are plenty of teams to support in the buckeye state. If sports aren’t your cup of beer then maybe you are more of a water lover. Ohio is home to several great rivers and lakes that make for awesome weekend trips. There are not many things better than hanging out on the water listening to some tunes and having a couple cold ones.

Speaking of cold ones, an Ohio summer has enough fairs, festivals, and jubilees to quench even the thirstiest conspirer’s desire. Some highlights that are must sees include: Red White and Boom,  The Ohio State Fair, Taste of Cincinnati, and The Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival (See full list of over 1000 events here – http://ohiofestivals.net/schedule).

Point 2 – Geography

50% of the US population lives within a 500 mile radius of Columbus. So that means you are only a one day or less drive away from great cities like Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville, and Toronto.

Small on budget, but large on Adventure? Well you are in luck. There are a host of awesome weekend trip destinations in Ohio.  Some main attractions include:

  • Hocking hills
  • The Ohio Big 3: Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati
  • Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
  • Put-in-Bay
  • Pro football Hall of Fame and HOF game
  • Kings Island and Cedar point
  • Columbus Zoo

Point 3 – When it’s over, it gets better

My final point for why an Ohio summer rains supreme is because when it draws to a close in early September, something even better rolls around… Ohio fall. And the only thing better than summer in Ohio, is fall in Ohio.
